(all 4 pieces are 5"x5" on watercolor paper)

I decided to break away from canvas and larger scale works for while. I thought going back to pen and paper would be a nice, therapeutic change of pace for me. I was right! I started incorporating watercolor, charcoal and acrylic paint with my ink drawings and I'm really digging how this is evolving.

The Bustle in a House :: 22" x 30"
BFK Rives 280 cream paper :: collage :: hand stitching

This is a piece from my solo show A Common Thread. Somehow I never posted an image of this work which is extremely meaningful to that series. A hand stitched piece based on the poem The Bustle in a House, by Emily Dickinson. The original poem reads:

The Bustle in a House
The Morning after Death
Is solemnest of industries
Enacted upon Earth—

The Sweeping up the Heart
And putting Love away
We shall not want to use again
Until Eternity.

I chose to omit certain words towards the end of the poem to reflect my body of work and the feelings I was coping with at the time. My piece reads:

The Bustle in a House
The Morning after Death
Is solemnest of industries
Enacted upon Earth—

Sweeping
Love away
Until Eternity.

------>Mr. and Mrs. Almost<------

We had such an amazing turn out for the show's opening night. It was crazy how many people were piling in right at 5pm. (We even ran out of liquor before 7pm and had to go get more!)

I can't tell you how much fun it was to meet the other artists and be able to tell them how much I LOVED their work. I've never wanted to buy so many pieces of artwork before...I'll admit, I had to at least purchase one!

Charles Buchanan, you put together an awesome printmaking show and I'm so very proud and thankful to be a part of it.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS :: VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS

Not only is First Impressions going to be an AMAZING show, but there will also be loose prints and Valentine's Day cards for sell. Here's a sneak peek at the linocut cards I produced for the show. All cards are made from upcycled paper bags accompanied by brown bag envelopes. No card is the same, so enjoy something that's uniquely yours! Give some love...you know you want to!

I'm just now realizing how far behind I am on posts due to the holidays and getting ready for shows. I have some really great photos from Moss Rock, the Bazaar and even new work to post...soon....very soon!

Hope everyone's enjoying the holidays!
